If anyone has questions about coursework in their program, this is good place to ask questions. Several of the members and guests here have been through it or are currently enrolled so If you ask I'm sure you'll get a respose.

Hello all,

I just join the forum! I need some help! I'm just starting to find a thesis paper I can start. I was thinking about something in finance since im into the stock market and really got my interest starting since last year when I bought XM Radio. But im a computer science BS major and wanna look for something in the technology side too. Trying to blend those together would be great; Im sure you would agree. Just can't seem to decide or come to some sort of conclusion on what direct I should head in. I'm very indecisive cause most of my professors are no into the finance area of expertise. Their interests range fro Internation business?quality>product promotion>marketing>OB, etc. Only have one professor who is truely in the finance arena. Someone help?

Sachin

You could write a paper on the technology used by the markets like NASDAQ. This would let you use your CS background and still talk about the financial markets. One of the interesting things is the use of fractions in trading instead of decimals.

saket,

I think you may be better off waiting a year or two and building up some work experience so you have more to offer a school as a potential candidate. Schools may be tentative about accepting you because of your lack of work experience.

hi Philips,
Thanks for the reply. There's another thing i wanted to ask. In india we have 15 years of under grad studies unless one is pursuing an engineering degree. Have the B schools started accepting 15 yrs of uder grad educastion or do they still look for 16 years. I have done some prior research and found out that Duke, Dartsmouth, Stanford, Univ of Rochester, Columbia,Wharton, Zicklin and few others take 15 yrs education as well. Do you think they will eventualy give more preference to applicants with 16 yrs education ?
Thanks for the help!!
saket
