Besides the London Business School and INSEAD, what are other good MBA schools to look into in London and France?
Also, I have heard that it is better to go to B-school in the US if you want to work in the US upon graduation... is that true? Do US companies rank US schools higher than non-US schools in general?
Clear Admit 07-07-2003, 11:34 AM Dear Aliu,
As far as programs in London and France are concerned, LBS and INSEAD are the clear front-runners (by a long-shot as far as international recognition is concerned). Other programs of note in the UK are Cranfield and Manchester - neither of which are in London (but both of which are very solid). For France, the drop-off is fairly steep, with HEC's MBA distantly behind INSEAD.
If your goal is to work in the US long-term, you should probably be targeting US-based programs. Even INSEAD and LBS graduates will have a harder time working in the US - when matched against some of the top-15 MBA graduates in the States.
Obviously, if you intend to work in Europe in the long-term, you may strongly consider INSEAD, LBS, Cranfield, Manchester and even Rotterdam, IMD, or IESE for their regional networks in Europe. The only danger to attending the programs in Europe is the often hyper-regional nature of the alumni network (this is especially true in France - where a school like HEC is GOLD within the country - but lesser known beyond the borders).

Best of luck,

One additional thought with regards to your options in the UK:
You may want to investigate both Oxford and Cambridge for their relatively new, but up-and-coming MBA programs. Neither are in London - but again, I was not sure if your question was aimed at the UK as a whole or only London....
The key here is that both of these programs have an established global brand in other academic fields - and it is likely only a matter of time before their MBA's gain more recognition.
Best of luck,
Graham
