Hi all
I am planning to attend to master in marketing in Spain. All of the rankings are for IMBA and I am not quite sure which school has a better program?ESADE or IE?From the website, it seems as IE has a better connection with companies since it has partner companies, but I have heard that ESADE is better in Marketing. Can you tell me what is the case,I'm wondering especially the schools reputation among multinational companies in Europe because I am considering to work in the mktg department of a multinational company. Thanks

Dear Cem,

Generally speaking, IE and ESADE are both very strong programs. While ESADE tends to rank a bit more highly amongst recruiters (it was second only to IMD in last year’s Wall Street Journal rankings), IE is a slightly younger program and it is moving up in the rankings quickly (it went from 20th to 12th in the same WSJ rankings). Each school has an extensive marketing curriculum, so there won’t be any shortage of things to learn about while you’re actually at school.

To help you make a decision between the two, my suggestion is that you learn more not only about the specific courses offered, but also about the relationships with specific companies that you might one day be interested in working for. Peruse the school’s websites, call the admissions offices if necessary, and try to figure out exactly what they’re doing with marketing, and how closely you think that it will align with your overall career goals. Then, since the relationship these schools have with companies is one of your primary concerns, you could call the companies and try to get a sense of their impression of the schools. By contacting HR or the marketing department in a company you might hope to work for post-graduation, you will not only learn more about how they view the different programs, but also make an important first contact with a future employer.

You might also contact specific professors to learn more about their work. You’ll find that each professor is conducting specialized marketing research, say in pricing or product, and this could impact the value of the education that you would receive from the specific program for you.

Good luck with your applications!

As I have read more and more comments I have decided to attend to the MBA program. I think IE is better in MBA when compared with ESADE but worse than IESE. Is it true?
