bschoolint 12-20-2005, 09:50 PM Hi Clear Admit,
I am applying to top MBA programs. My wife is also applying to the same programs. We have similar profiles (non-profit background in a developing country, high gmats and extracurricular activities).
Apart from being individually evaluated, Do you think that we gonna be evaluated as a couple? Does the application of one affect the other's?
Do you think that our chances to be accepted decrease because both of us have similar profiles?
Thanks.
Clear Admit 12-20-2005, 10:50 PM Hey Bschoolint,
This is a very good question. It is hard to quantify exactly how the adcom will view your applications in relation to one another, but for the most part you will be considered individually. My suggestion is that both you and your wife mention one another’s name, and state that you are hoping to attend an MBA program together in the coming year. This will keep your readers aware of the situation. However, make sure that this explanation is short. The last thing you want to do is appear as though you are pleading with the school, and anything more than a brief explanation of the situation could be perceived this way. The optional essay is often the best place to address this situation.
Good luck with your applications!
