Validity Period of the GMAT score

Hi All,

I took the GMAT in Oct 2004...read somewhere that the GMAT score is valid for a period of 5 years... Is it really so? Or does it depend on the discretion of the MBA school...and if this is the case then what stance do the top 20 MBA colleges usually take on this...?

Thanks.

Dear Randomfilter,

Yes, the GMAT is only valid for five years. While an MBA program could theoretically consider a score older than five years if an applicant was to send it, top programs in the United States and internationally are largely unwilling to do so.

My recommendation would be that you make sure your score is current when applying. Fortunately, it appears as though you’ve still got a few years to work with before your current score becomes invalid.

Good luck with the application process!
