Hi,
I am worried about my toefl score I took last year 263 (L24 S28 R27 TWE 5) after realizing that my scores are 20 points below average of top schools.

I took the GMAT a month ago with strong verbal 760 (Q90% V99% AWA 4).

Do you think that my toefl raise concern about my English skills?

Regards.

Hi bschoolint -

Thanks for your post, and congratulations on your excellent GMAT score! Your TOEFL score in indeed a bit below average for successful applicants to the top MBA programs, but it doesn't fall below their standards; those schools that do have a minimum TOEFL score usually set it at or close to 250. While the admissions committee might perceive a disconnect between your performance on the TOEFL and your score on the verbal portion of the GMAT, I do not think that you need to retake the exam or that your current score will be a detriment to your candidacy. Keep in mind that the schools will also be weighing your essays and interview in evaluating your communication skills, so your time would be best spent putting forth a strong showing on these elements of the application process.

Good luck! Feel free to post a follow-up if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Alex Kelly
