Why no Interview Invite

Hello Clear Admit,
I was wondering if you could help me understand why I haven't received in a R1 interview with MIT Sloan. Is there a certain aspect of my background that does not fit with what they are looking for?

GMAT: 770 48M/49V

GPA 3.91

Work: 1 Year Mgmt Consulting, 3 Years in Litigation Consulting (as of June 2006)

Extracurriculars: Project Leader for Non-Profit

I know there is still a little time left, but it seems like most of their invites have been sent out for R1 interviews.

Thanks

Dear IUPAC,

At 770, your GMAT score is well above the average of most applicants applying to the top business schools. Your GPA is excellent (and this could be further strengthened depending on the reputation of the school you attended). You’ve had a few years of practical experience in the workplace, which adcoms like to see. It’s also great that you’ve had experience as a Project Leader of a Non-Profit. This will show the adcom that you have extracurricular interests and care about volunteering.

Thus, most of your application will come down to the content of your essays and the application itself. The competitiveness of your candidacy will depend on how well you’ve presented yourself and whether or not you showed that you were a well-rounded candidate with a variety of interests and well-defined career goals. You'll also have to demonstrate a need to attend business school to accomplish these.

Because I haven’t seen your application in its entirety, it’s difficult for me to comment on just how well-rounded you appear or how solid your overall message is. If you’re still curious about why you didn’t get an interview, I’d encourage you to review all of your materials and ensure that you’re supporting your message throughout each of your essays. Make sure that you added in all relevant aspects of your candidacy and didn’t overly focus on one (such as a particular work experience). If you’d like a more detailed review of your application, you should contact Clear Admit to schedule this.

Regards,

Chelsea Ferrell
