Dear All

Need you inputs regarding my strategy on applying US B-schools

Scored:710 (Q-50,V-36,94% percentile) on 23rd June

Please go through my background and let me know your honest feedback on my queries.

I shall appreciate your feedback

BACKGROUND

Age - 34 years,Male,Indian

Education: B.E,M.Tech(Electrical) - just 73-75% in both (from one of premier university of India)

Family Background:

My father : Retired Professor from one of the Engineering College,India

Wife : Owns her family business and also international acclaimed Indian classical dancer

father-in-law - Industrialist

Work exp: 12+ years

3 years - Engineer in NTPC(Leading Power Utility Company based of India)

1.5 years - Calcutta,India based Software company

3 years - In Bay Area,USA in a start up company

4+ years - Working as a Product Expert in IT division of Duetsche Post(www.dhl.com),Kualalumpur,Malaysia

Intrested in: Strategic Management,merger and acquisition

Aiming for: Chicago-GSB,Tuck School,Tepper School,Fuqua,Darden



Couple of queries:

1) Is the multifarious experience an added point ?

2) 34-35 years is a problem in getting admission in mentioned dream schools ?

3) B.E,M.tech counts in application ?

4)Family background has some importance in application ?

Someone with 12 years of experience will need to do a good job of explaining 'why now' is the right time to pursue an MBA. This will require a sharp focus on your goals etc. Family background is not too relevant. Make sure you also do a good job of explaining your career decisions thus far. Schools are also interested in your extra curricular and community service activities, so make sure to highlight those. Your school choices seem attainable if you can address the above. cheers, alex (note, try to apply in the first round, as an someone of indian heritage you are applying from a very strong pool of candidates)
