NYU part time for fall 2006 says 8-10 weeks after deadline, now hitting 6 weeks and no responce. I know people who have heard back, accepted, rejected, and waitlisted. I applied really early so I know they have read my application, if I have not heard back yet what do you think that means in terms of my chances?

To give u an idea of my application, 720 GMAT 6.0 AWA, 2.9 undergrad GPA with 165 credits completed (135 needed to graduate) at a top tier engineering school in NYC (Cooper Union), 3 years as a system admin while i was a student (which i counted as full time work experience), 6 months at merrill, 8 at mizuho, and by the time i enter stern 1 year at a top hedge fund. and a history of community service during undergrad.

760 GMAT, 3.2 GPA, 8 years work experience. But I applied right near the deadline.

you shouldn't get too worried just yet (since you are still shy of their 8-10 week promise). Of course, you have a few liabilities, so the adcom is likely weighing your candidacy against the rest of the pool.

Those liabilities are:

-low GPA (sub 3.0)
-beyond your system admin job (3 yrs) which won't be viewed in the same light as post-collegiate work exp., you seem to have bounced around a lot. Only 6 months at Merrill sounds odd. Only 8 months at your next post even odder and only 1 yr at the hedge fund. This makes it hard for you to show dedication and progression.
-you also alluded to strong XCs while in college (might explain the 2.9) but this implies that you have poor XCs since (i presume) which would be another weakness

cheers, alex
