AGSM Admissions Committee

It has taken me by surprise that my application has been unsuccessful based just on my GMAT score. From research that I undertook, the ETS website, and the Kaplan course I took, it is clear to me and any other applicant that the GMAT score is an important part of the admission process for any MBA program worldwide. However, the GMAT is not the sole component which can be used by any admissions committee to reject or accept an MBA applicant.

I have taken the GMAT three times with my score improving to 430 overall. Although, this process has been exhausting, difficult and expensive, I kept studying in order to achieve the 550 required score. Unfortunately, at this stage the time is against me to keep improving my score to reach the 550 mark. More time would have meant that my score was more likely to improve to reach the minimum GMAT score required. However, it seems that the improvements I made on my score, my persistence, commitment and time to go through the admission process, even without weighing up the rest of my application: curriculum vitae, academic transcripts, work experience, referee reports, and etc., has not been taken into consideration when the admissions committee made its decision.

Hi and thanks for your inquiry.

It's very difficult to say what happened without reviewing the entire application you submitted as it is possible your essays, reccomendations, etc raised red flags. However, it is certainly possible the low GMAT score concerned AGSM that you would struggle with their coursework and that alone is reason for a rejection in any ad comm's eyes.

Best of luck with your applications!

Sincerely,
