Unbalanced GMAT, 690 total

How bad is unbalanced GMAT? Should I retake the exam?

My score is 690, with quantitative scaled score being 50 (95%) and scaled verbal score being 34 (71%). The exam is taken only once. Should I retake it?

My background: bachelor degree in chemistry (summa cum laude), bachelor degree in business administration (average grades), master degree in asian studies (summa cum laude), four years of full-time work experience, including Chief Information Officer and, currently, General Manager positions. Originally from Latvia (Eastern Europe), currently work in Thailand, the company's assets are US$750k. Proficient in Russian, Latvian and English, but also able to communicate (speak/read/write) Japanese, Arabic and Thai. Altogether 10 academic publications (including one book), two more are in preparation (including one more book), and four scholarship (including the homecountry's Academy of Science award in natural science). 28 year-old.

The targeted school (only one choice): China Europe International Business School (top 20-25 in the world according to Financial Times). The average GMAT for 2005 intake was about 680, and for 2006 was 690. Therefore, my total result is not a problem. I only worry whether my low verbal score is a problem... Guides say that scalled scores of 40+ math and 40+ verbal are preffered for the top level business schools. I rely completely on my own money paying the tuition and living expences, no hopes for scholarship. Any experienced opinion?

I wouldn't be too worried about the verbal score, you have a good overall score and quantitative is what really matters. As long as you can communicate well in your admissions essay I wouldn't worry about it.
