Hi everyone,

I am hoping to get an MBA 2 years down the line and need advises on how to improve my profile. Have a coworker with stellar academic and work experiences that got rejected from Northwestern ... kinda discouraging :(. Well, I just want to see how my profile is looking like and hopefully get some great tips on things to improve within these two years. I would greatly appreciate your honesty in letting me know whether I seem too ambitious based on my current profile and school choices :).

Background:

1.5 years of IT consulting in Big 8 accounting/consulting (will have 3.5 yrs by 2008) - Promotion offered for 2007. Have only done project management on a smaller scale (revenue and time based), hoping to have more responsibilities in the future.

CISA (CPA equivalent for IT audit)

U of Illinois - Urbana Champaign
BSc in Econ and BSBA in MIS 3.6 overall, 3.71 major

Non-US citizen (from South East Asia)

Two study abroads in Europe and Australia

Leadership roles during undergrad year - floor president, publicity committee, student diplomats, honor society, etc

Planning to take GMAT and hoping to score 700

Fluent in three languages and have a basic fluency in two others

Post undergrad activities: 2 short term volunteers abroad, IT related research with former undergrad professor, short term community service involvement,

School choices (not limited to): U of Chicago, Northwestern, NYU, Darden, Berkeley, Fisher, Tepper, INSEAD

Career aspiration post MBA - management consulting in Asia

Also, have just been reading the other forums and realized that I need to catch up on my post undergrad activities. I would greatly appreciate any kind of insights on this (i.e take grad level classes? community service? etc)?

Thank you in advance!!

I am currently at Stern and if you are really looking at management consulting, don't bother applying here.

NYU is good for applicants trying to enter into investment banking and other wall street firms. Best schools for Management consulting are Harvard and Wharton.
