misspinkmay 09-29-2006, 12:31 PM would like to get my MBA at Harvard University. I have a Bachelor in Business and System Analysis (April 2002), a Bachelor in Marketing (April 2002) and a Certificate in Marketing (April 2002). I am the first person in the history of my university to come out with more than 1 bachelor in one sittings.I'm also the first to come out with 3 degrees in one sitting.
I have a score of 287 on my TOEFL and a GMAT score of 706.
I have a good job resume and I have held some pretty impressive titles and have accomplished a lot.I also have 6 years of work experience.
I have accomplished a lot athletically as well. 3 times Atlantic champion and provincial champion is High jump. I’m also a one time provincial champion and Atlantic champion in 100m, long jump, triple jump, 400m and 200m.
I also fluently speak 5 languages.
However my weakness is:
- My GPA isn’t that great.
- I haven’t worked since 2004. In 2004, I left my job to look after my father who was extremely ill. He then past away in 2005. I had to stay by mom’s side to help her out. She has 2 discal injuries (in the back) and I also had to take care of my Granny who is ill (she cannot walk, nor see and she has dementia)
DO I still have a chance? Or is it all down the drain for me?
cemj99 09-29-2006, 01:46 PM I'm sure Harvard has plenty of athletic champions among their ranks in the MBA program. In order to stand out, you should send them a video of you racing a tiger. That'll be the ultimate "wow factor". I'm just kidding of course. Your credentials sound great but more information is needed for anybody to give you any type of opinion. What is your GPA and what type of work did you do? Also what school did you graduate from. From what you are saying in your post, you seem to have some impressive academic credentials.
Icemastr 10-01-2006, 12:03 PM You might have a chance but you didn't list over 2/3 of the factors that would be reviewed for your admission. Having excelled in athletics is nice but I am sure the admissions board is going to care a lot more about ways you have demonstrated leadership. Were you captain of the athletic team you were on? Were you a leader in other groups outside of class? How did you set yourself apart from your peers at work? Anybody with a good GPA, the appropriate work experience, and GMAT scores above 700 certainly have a chance to get into Harvard but everybody wants to go to Harvard. You need to have a lot of wow factor if you want to have a good chance of getting in there.
