GMAT Preparation & Timing (UK)

Hi all,

Is anyone able to help me with the following?

I have just started investigating the MBA entry procedure. I would like to commence a course at September, 2003 or thereabouts (although am not sure if I have left it late already..).

Questions:

- Where can I find contact details for GMAT test centres in London?

- How much time should I allow myself for preparation at around 1-2 hours per day average? Is it realistic for me to take the GMAT in January?

- Is anyone able to recommend a good weekend or night tuition / prep class in London?

Any comments gratefully received.....

Cheers.....:)

Hey, winnm...yeah, you're starting kinda late. Deadlines are looming quickly for most b-schools. You'd have to rush your app, which I did on my first go, and I didn't take enough time to research the process right - made a ton of mistakes and got waitlisted, then rejected.

It's a pretty intensive process...do some reading on businessweek.com and review.com, and on this site, to get started. I would do that initial research first, and get some ideas about what schools you want to apply to, and what they're looking for, before moving forward on anything else. First check their application deadlines! You can apply to some as late as Feb/March, but the earlier you apply, the better in most cases.

For GMAT prep, 1-3 hours a night of study and 1 practice test a weekend for 1-2 months is what lots of people do, but if you're solid on tests like that, you might not need as much. Have you taken a practice test yet to see how you'd do with no prep? That would give you an idea of how much time and prep you need. There's a free one on that review.com site.

Dunno about GMAT courses in the UK; there is another page on this site that lists some options. It might be too late to take one for a Sept 2003 start, so if you can get the rest of your app together quickly enough for the deadlines but wanna do a course, try an online one. I think Princeton Review does that too - there's a ton of info on their site and I'm pretty sure I saw something about that when I was researching schools there.

Cheers!
