brianjcho 05-01-2006, 05:50 PM My goal is to get into an upper tier mba programs in the states.
I am currently a 3rd year economics major / accounting minor at UC Irvine and held 5 professional internships / jobs including smith barney, hewlett packard, uci paul merage school of business, and a private investment management firm. I plan on getting an internship at one of the big four accountancy firms prior to graduation.
I have a 3.7 GPA and plan on taking my GMAT within a year.
I have a question on what I should do upon graduation. I narrowed my choices to three.
1) Move to new york and try to get a summer internship at an upper bracket i-bank during my senior year summer.
2) Work for one of the big 4 firms around California
3) Move to Korea and try to work for an established american firm like one of the big four then come back to the states upon acceptance to a business program.
Im looking for the fastest / most efficient way into the top business programs. What would you guys recommend?
The most efficient way would probably be to upgrade what David Petersen refers to as you wow factor- for example:
Starting a non-profit corporation that helps feed, shelter and educate orphans of War in Africa and Middle East.
Taking a year off to write a mystery novel that wins an Edgar.
Getting a Sponsor and training for triathlons professionally. (Triathons are huge with the MBA crowd)
