Hey...there's a ton of info on applying to b-school on www.review.com. That would probably be the best place to start since you're really just starting to gather info. Also, the Princeton Review (the people who run the site) do test prep, and they're one of the biggies. I used them for GMAT prep, and they also do TOEFL.

Oh, and they have message boards that are way more active than this one, so there should be lots of people there who can answer your questions if you have any.

Good luck!!!!

Hi,

Beware - Princeton Review only offer face to face tutoring in the US. Do not do their online prep courses - I did and it was a waste of time. I would've been better to buy a prep book and spend the time studying and practicing the questions. That's what I recommend you do. If you can't find a local tutoring school then buy a gmat prep text book, Kaplan offer some good ones, study it and then do as many of the practice tests under exam conditions as you can. Get a friend or family member to watch you so you don't cheat ;)

Definately don't do TOEFL prep online. It's an english test!! You need to be able to speak it by listening and learning.

Also, the review discussion is not that great. I'd recommend the discussion at the Business Week site www.businessweek.com/bschools/index.html Its got better editorial and advice and won't try and sell you products you don't need (though both it and Review are US focussed).

HI

You're most definitely thinking of the process in the right way. Applying to Top MBA programs in the US is definitely a step-by step, iterative process.

I suggest you take advantage of what I call the "controllable" elements of the application FIRST! The following elements: essays, interviews and recommendations...are the first ones you should tackle...AFTER you've completed the GMAT, of course.

The GMAT is definitely your #1 thing to get done and the reason is that it has become the most important yardstick to measure/evaluate applicants today.

If you have more questions, go to my website for more on specifically what to do next in this iterative process.

Hope this helps,

Ruben

Hey,

I couldn't agree more with some of the comments posted - applying to the top schools must be taken seriously. I know a lot of people try to prepare a few essay templates and then copy & past pieces to satisfy requirements for several schools... it rarely works! Take your time and write individual essays for each school. Take the time to understand each school and what you can offer to the classroom environment... If you missed my point... take your time.
