Clear Admit 03-25-2002, 08:20 PM You are correct, 32 is above the average age for MBA students in the USA (usually students are around 25-28 years old). Having said that, many students are in their early thirties and it really depends on what you are hoping to get out of the program. If you are planning on returning to the same place of work, then you might consider pursuing an executive MBA and getting your company to sponsor you.
In regards to the comment made by your boss, I actually think this is a false statement. If you can gain admission to a top MBA program in the US, you will have a large number of options available to you upon graduation. The only question is whether or not you have the right background and experiences (education, test scores, volunteer work, hobbies) to gain entrance to a top program. Feel free to visit our site for some information about the types of services we provide. You should also look at other resources (like the MBA program home pages) to see what the statistics are for some of these programs.
Best of luck,

rtoddking 05-29-2002, 09:04 PM As I stated in another reply, your age is less important than the length of your post-undergraduate work experience. For example, I was admitted to a top-ten business school at age 37 - but that was only about five years after gaining my bachelor's degree.
If you have just 3-5 years of experience, then your age should not be a problem. If you have more work experience than that, you will indeed have a difficult time being admitted, because business school courses are designed for people with 3-5 years of experience. If you have ten or more years of experience, it's best to look at an executive MBA program, which is designed for more experienced people.
