robbie 09-12-2006, 03:25 PM Hi everyone,
My name's robbie. I have a bad undergrad gpa of 2.5, majoring in computer science from the university of british coumbia... let's just say that I had a bit too much fun during my undergrad years to compensate for a major I wasn't thrilled about. Plus I lacked the maturity to see ahead for the future.
However, since graduation things have been much much better for me. I got a good job as a business analyst for an IT services firm, worked for 2 years then went and got my masters in Information Systems from stevens inst of technology, NJ graduating with a 3.7 gpa. I then got a great job at a major asset management firm in nyc as an associate. I've been with them for 2 years now and have been doing very well.
On the side, I have been taking post-graduate classes at Columbia University, in entry level calculus, and statistcs and getting A's in them with the hope of building up an alternate transcript to show that I can handle quant courses. I should note that in my masters program, I took elective quant based courses like financial management, capital markets and scored A's in them.
I have already taken the gmat and have a 740. I plan to get 1 more year of work ex and then apply to b schools as I will have 5 yrs of experience by then...
I've done very well for myself since I finished my undergrad a few years ago and that while my grad gpa, gmat, work ex and alternate transcript look good - will my poor performance at my undergrad hold me back from getting into a top 15 school?
Looking forward to hearing from you all.
Warm regards
Robbie
