GMAT validity Time Period

Hi All,

I took the GMAT in Oct 2004...read somewhere that the GMAT score is valid for a period of 5 years... Is it really so? Or does it depend on the discretion of the MBA school...and if this is the case then what stance do the top 20 MBA colleges usually take on this...?

Thanks.
