Will passing the CPA make up for a low undergrad GPA?

My GPA from undergrad in Finance is 2.75 (on 4.0 scale)-my grades were highest in math & statistics (quant type classes). I have not taken the GMAT yet but am thinking of taking the CPA because just passing the test should prove useful to my career regardless if I choose to pursue an MBA in the future. I'm just wondering if a recently passed CPA (been out of school for over 10 years) will help my admissions prospects to MBA school, assuming my GMAT score is within acceptable range for admissions.

THANKS!

Yes- my understanding is that attaining professional accounting designation will improve your chances and mitigate a lower GPA.
